When Isabela Ozamiz, the software developer behind the digital Periodic Table of Canadian Black History, realized International Women's Day was coming, she hopped on a Zoom call with her girlfriends for some group research, laughs, and learning. With Nicholas Simard again donating translation services, you can learn about Angela James (the first Black woman and first openly gay person to be inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame), Kenojuak Ashevak (an Inuit artist and printmaker whose work has been featured on a Canada Post stamp), and Vivek Shraya (a multidisciplinary artist and writer who authored one of our all time favourite picture books "The Boy and The Bindi").

The digital Periodic Table of Black Canadian History has been accessed more than 125,000 times as of today. We are delighted to continue to co-create resources like the Periodic Table of Canadian Women's History that centre Canadian and Indigenous stories and achievements for educators and families to use in learning on International Women's Day and every day.

We are so grateful to Isabela Ozamiz for graciously donating her time and professional skills to create yet another fantastic resource! We see a future spot for you on this table too!
